This year, the VTL celebrates it’s 5th anniversary! Wooo!! It’s been a crazy, wonderful ride and we’re just getting stronger and stronger every year.
We couldn’t have made it this far without all of our members. We’ve grown as a community over the past 5 years and we’re looking forward to the next 5!
The VTL has opened a satellite location with a little help from our friends at MakerLabs. As of July 2014, this second inventory will feature some of our most popular tools at a more central location in Mount Pleasant, 221 East 10th Avenue. Stay tuned for updates as they come! In the meantime, check out MakerLabs during their open hours.
In this introductory workshop, participants will become familiar with some of the most common and widely applicable tools in the VTL inventory in a fun and inclusive environment. Participants will learn proper tool handling, application, and safety. Upon completion of the workshop, participants will have the confidence to name and use basic tools necessary for everyday projects AND walk away with a planter box they built themselves!

What to Bring: All tools and materials will be provided. Part of the workshop may take place outside so wear comfortable clothing that is weather appropriate. No dangling drawstrings or jewellery, please.

A VTL membership and annual fee will allow your loved one to access the more than 1200 tools in our inventory. So put down that sweater, turn away from the mall, and buy a membership right here and now.
If you order by December 20th, we will print off the membership for pick up during the shop’s opening hours on Saturday December 21st. Or – if you want to print off the membership at home, order right up until Santa slides down the chimney.

Please note that while a $20 co-op membership gives a member discounts on our workshop series and the ability to participate in governance of the VTL, an annual maintenance fee is required for a member to borrow tools.
Hit the slopes knowing that your gear is in great shape after our Snowboard & Ski Tune-Up Workshop. You’ll be making sharper turns and slaloms for the upcoming season!
After this workshop, participants will leave with the confidence to use our waxing and tuning tool set at their own home. The workshop will focus mainly on downhill skis and snowboards; most of the information being taught will be transferable to cross-country skis. Facilitator Sean Hillis will go through basic waxing and edge tuning/maintenance techniques, then your new skills will be put to work through lots of practice!
