Hello VTL members past/present/future!!
We are following the news and reports on the COVID-19 situation, and it’s really heartening to see that all our social distancing measures are having an impact and indeed “flattening the curve” to some extent! It’s really important that we recognize what good these efforts are having, as we all know they certainly haven’t been easy to implement.
The VTL Board of Directors and management are in constant contact, and monitoring the situation carefully. At this point we have decided to remain closed for now, and are uncertain when we will re-open. It is our hope that it won’t be too much longer, but we care about our community and will do everything we can to keep our volunteers and members safe.
Tuesday Work Space hours at the Wood Shop Co-op are postponed indefinitely, and credits will be applied to make up for these dates. All tools will be renewed with zero extension fees or late charges. Please contact our general manager Laine Hughes at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or comments.
Keep on social distancing, and together we will get through this!!!
COVID-19 AND THE VTL
It is with heavy hearts we announce that the VTL is effectively shut down until April 1st at the earliest. The VTL Board of Directors is in constant contact and keeping aware of all the updates from the CDC, and the provincial and federal governments.
We hope to open back up as soon as possible!
For now, all workshops are postponed until further notice, and those with tickets can get refunds or credits toward the future version of that workshop. Tuesday Work Space hours at the Wood Shop Co-op are also postponed, and credits will be applied to make up for these dates. All tools will be renewed with zero extension fees or late charges. Please contact our general manager Laine Hughes at email@example.com if you have any questions or comments.
We truly appreciate all your support and hope you’re keeping well during this difficult time.
The VTL cares about our community!!
In an effort to be COVID-19 aware and proactive, we are doing the following:
- Members are encouraged to contact us via phone or email to extend tools at no extra charge if you are feeling unwell, and/or are opting for social distancing measures.
- The BC CDC will be our guide and if closures are recommended, we will follow suit. Keep an eye on our social media and website for further information and updates on this.
- Volunteers are being encouraged to stay home if they need to for any reason.
- Extra cleaning efforts including wiping down tools, shared surfaces, and doorknobs are in effect.
If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please get in touch with us!! We can be reached at (604) 568 8071, and firstname.lastname@example.org
Take care everyone!!!
We are very excited to announce that we have partnered up with the Wood Shop Worker’s Co-op to improve our workshop space, and offer our members work space for larger scale project builds!!
Starting in February, the VTL will offer work space hours at the Wood Shop Worker’s Co-op every second Tuesday from 6 – 10pm. The Co-op is located at 1245 Glen Drive.
At the Tool Library, members can purchase punch cards for hourly increments that will grant access to the work space. After a short orientation with our work space supervisor, members can work on their projects on site. There are some tools available on site including two cabinet saws, two sliding compound mitre saws, a drill press, a planer, and various hand held power tools. Members are also encouraged to borrow VTL tools to bring to the work space for project execution.
For more information about this call the shop ((604) 568-8071), email the shop manager (Laine – email@example.com) or come on down in person and talk to one of our awesome volunteers who will be happy to fill you in.
