In fall 2025, the VTL hired three contractors to work with the Board to help meet some of our 2025-2026 strategic goals – our Inventory Specialist, Social Media Editor, and Newsletter Editor. Get to know them below.
Lucas Krist – Inventory Specialist
Lucas (he/him) is in the role of inventory specialist, working to improve organization of the tools at VTL and conduct a full inventory of our power tools. He is an environmental engineer by day with a knack for all projects mechanical and electrical. The tool library is a key player in the upkeep of his MGB convertible. When he’s not tinkering with the ‘B you’ll find him in the sky flying for leisure, out enjoying the outdoors, or visiting mine sites for work. Lucas found some unique treasures while scouring the tool inventory over the past couple months. If you see him around the VTL, ask about his vintage discoveries!

Mina Labani – Social Media Editor
Mina (she/her) is the Social Media Editor, helping build the tool library’s brand, digital presence, and community visibility. She is a multidisciplinary marketer and designer who loves blending creativity with strategic planning. She’s been a VTL member for the past year and loves borrowing tools to support her personal projects, from building her own shelf with wooden brackets, to crafting wooden fruit-and-vegetable-themed art pieces. When she’s not working, you’ll likely find her recipe testing in her kitchen, tending to her houseplants and garden box, or probably enjoying a very long walk. If you see Mina at the VTL, she’ll probably ask if you want to be in a video for social media. Consider saying yes!

Heather Evens – Newsletter Editor
Heather (she/her) is the Newsletter Editor, bringing our e-newsletter to life each month and working to keep our website updated. She met the VTL over 10 years ago via an Introduction to Tools workshop and has been a massive fan ever since! She’s thrilled to now use her writing and tech skills to keep our membership updated on what’s happening in our community. Her personal stash of far too many screwdrivers, hammers and wrenches probably comes from her carpenter grandfather and heavy duty mechanic father – being handy runs in the family. When not at her laptop wordsmithing for clients, she’s likely involved in a local theatre production, petsitting for friends, or peeking into little free libraries. If you see Heather at the VTL, know that she’s always looking for stories to share in the newsletter. Feel free to pitch an idea!

If you have questions about the tool inventory, email info@vancouvertoollibrary.com or, better yet, give the front desk a call during library hours.
