DONATE TOOLS
The VTL loves tool donations! In fact, most of our inventory has been donated.
What to do: Please fill out our online Tool Donation form and one of our volunteers will get back to you on the next steps to take.
What NOT to do: Please don’t drop off tools without giving us notice, and do NOT dump tools on our doorstep.
Please be respectful of our volunteers at the VTL and our neighbours by contacting us in advance to arrange for a safe tool donation. This process helps us to ensure sustainability and the most effective tool usage in our shop.
Will the VTL accept my tool donation?
You are very generous. And it depends. It’s true that the VTL relies primarily on donated tools, which has enabled us to accumulate a great inventory. But if we already have multiples of the tool you want to donate, then it would be better to donate your tool somewhere else. Use our Tool Donation form so that a volunteer can reply to you with a decision.
Can I drop off tools during OPEN hours?
Yes, but only if we have agreed to take your donation and we know it’s coming. To ensure sustainability and the most effective tool usage in our shop, please fill out our online Tool Donation form and one of our volunteers will get back to you about next steps.
Can I drop off tools when your shop is CLOSED?
No, please do NOT dump tools on our doorstep. Our volunteers may not be equipped to relocate them safely indoors, and it may cost us money to dispose of items we cannot use. Being mindful of our neighbourhood, leaving items on the sidewalk would be an eyesore and potential safety hazard for people passing by.
Can you PICK UP my donation?
Sometimes, if a volunteer is available to do so. Select “pickup” on our Tool Donation form. Note that we could only accept tools/materials that can be regularly transported safely by our members – this would exclude large or stationary tools.
Can I donate materials or other consumables?
It depends. If our members could benefit from the materials and we can store them safely, then we might like to take them. Please provide details on our Tool Donation form and one of our volunteers will get back to you.
Can I donate money, time or services?
