The VTL cares about our community!!
In an effort to be COVID-19 aware and proactive, we are doing the following:
- Members are encouraged to contact us via phone or email to extend tools at no extra charge if you are feeling unwell, and/or are opting for social distancing measures.
- The BC CDC will be our guide and if closures are recommended, we will follow suit. Keep an eye on our social media and website for further information and updates on this.
- Volunteers are being encouraged to stay home if they need to for any reason.
- Extra cleaning efforts including wiping down tools, shared surfaces, and doorknobs are in effect.
If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please get in touch with us!! We can be reached at (604) 568 8071, and manager@vancouvertoollibrary.com
Take care everyone!!!
We are very excited to announce that we have partnered up with the Wood Shop Worker’s Co-op to improve our workshop space, and offer our members work space for larger scale project builds!!
Starting in February, the VTL will offer work space hours at the Wood Shop Worker’s Co-op every second Tuesday from 6 – 10pm. The Co-op is located at 1245 Glen Drive.
At the Tool Library, members can purchase punch cards for hourly increments that will grant access to the work space. After a short orientation with our work space supervisor, members can work on their projects on site. There are some tools available on site including two cabinet saws, two sliding compound mitre saws, a drill press, a planer, and various hand held power tools. Members are also encouraged to borrow VTL tools to bring to the work space for project execution.
For more information about this call the shop ((604) 568-8071), email the shop manager (Laine – manager@vancouvertoollibrary.com) or come on down in person and talk to one of our awesome volunteers who will be happy to fill you in.

Chad is more than just a VTL member and volunteer, he is also quite the builder! Here are a few awesome things he put together lately.
First he hacked an ikea bed to create extra storage, and give the bed itself more width and a sturdier base than the traditional wooden slats they send you home with.

Then he build this really nice table from a live edge plank:

And finally, he did some custom storage solutions as well:

Way to go Chad!!!

VTL member Tim spent some time in his yard with our tools and some gorgeous ipe wood putting together this perfectly custom deck. Well done Tim!!!!
